A Look Back at 15.4

15.4 meant handstand push-ups (HSPUs) for a lot of athletes, and thankfully those who participated kept it cool and seemed to perform well while saving their necks from Snap City.  Just as in 15.3 we witnessed a high percentage of our athletes completing the Rx workout, and we couldn't be happier about the progression of our members' proficiency with some of the more technical elements found in these WODs.  Proof that spending time working skills and chasing technique allows for the development of complex movements - nice work AR athletes!

Some notable folks completing their first full range-of-motion HSPUs in competition were Leisa, Mike S, Natalie, and Randy - and not to be outdone, Milo punched her scorecard with an Rx score completing some (very, very closely monitored) HSPUs with Baby Bowen in tow.

Several athletes completed the Rx workout to submit an official Rx score, and then hit the Scaled workout for some fun and added training - working out after working out, just to get a good workout in!  Once again Nevada and LGB put up some impressive numbers in the Scaled workout, pushing past triple digits into the 100+ mark.

Kim kept herself in the running for the next phase of Masters Qualifiers by registering an Rx score, and nearly cleaning an all-time PR.  She was so close on a few attempts (bar racked on the shoulders) and we know she'll soon be hitting those well-over bodyweight cleans with ease.  We'll be screaming our heads off for Kim in this final Open week as she gears up to secure that invite to the next phase of Masters competition!

The ladies of Arena Ready continued the trend of impressive performances, and a deep scoreboard of Rx results - multiple scores of 40+, 50+, 70s, 80s, and 90s on such a challenging workout shows that our females are really getting after it in their training.  Pretty cool stuff to watch, and very inspiring for our newer athletes who are working toward the levels set by our veterans.  Shout out to "Mini Rex" Lisa and "Sparkle" Stok-Mo for contributing to our top-3 women's scores (85 and 73, respectively), and to "The Flying Squirrel" for nearly rounding out the top-3 (hitting a 70-rep score).  Fantastic work ladies!

The final workout of the 2015 Open is set to be announced on Thursday.  What will 15.5 have in store for us?  We've strategically placed elements of the likely candidates throughout our programming this week both to prime the movement patterns and allow for further practice and training of these patterns (without trying to exactly re-create what the workout might be).  Who knows though, perhaps 15.5 will be something entirely different and unexpected - but just in case, here is part two of this week's thruster deconstruction...
