"Mini Rex" Recaps Her 2015 Open Experience

Lisa IG recently shared her reflections on the 2015 CrossFit Games Open on her blog Stilettos to Snatches.

The last three times I’ve participated in the Open, I’ve always taken away one valuable lesson from each time.  In 2011, the lesson I learned was how humbling CrossFit can be where it forced me to learn how to do double unders outside on my street corner in the early mornings and that my fitness still had a ways to go before saying I was in “really good shape.” I was out for the 2012 and 2013 Open, and even then, the Open still taught me that I missed being in a competitive environment with a group of people.  Last year, I learned how to overcome my fear of a movement I was told I could never do again, and how amazing it feels to be a part of a wonderful community.
For this year, the Open has again taught me a valuable lesson: improvement knows no ends.  Over the last five weeks, I found myself getting better and getting stronger with each week, even if the movements or workouts were more challenging or more difficult...

...As I reflect on everything, I can’t help but think about all of the super fun and exciting things that are in store for me for the rest of this year.  I still have so much to look forward to, and a lot to be excited about, and if the rest of my year goes the way the Open did, I’ll be a very lucky person.  I’ve been blessed to be a part of a wonderful community where the spirit of the Open manifested itself in every single person who walked through the doors the last five Saturday mornings and left nothing on the table whether they were doing the workouts scaled or as proscribed.
