2 Minutes for Max Calories

Earlier this year, Dave Castro, the director of the CrossFit Games issued a challenge open to anyone willing to submit a video - the challenge was: row 2 minutes for max calories.  The winner received an Air Assualt Bike (a $1,000 value) and some serious worldwide bragging rights.  

Here is the winning video submission.  This is 89 calories.  No slingshot of the handle in dramatic exhaustion, no falling over like a floppy fish with his feet still strapped in.  Just 2 minutes of (fairly uneventful) crazy power output.  HO-LEE COW.
About a year-and-a-half ago, Coach Hillary won a similar challenge which was posted on the CrossFit main site (aka crossfit.com), which invited the entire world to attempt a rowing/deadlift WOD and video their results.  They offered a $700 cash prize to the best worldwide score recorded on video by 5pm Pacific Time the next day.  The WOD was:

AMRAP 7 Minutes:
5 Sub-1:30/1:43 Pace Pulls on C2 Rower 
3 Deadlifts @ 315/215 lbs


Hillary recorded the highest score worldwide at 12 rounds flat, besting even Samantha Briggs (the 2013 CrossFit Games champion) who did 11 rounds + 2 deadlifts.  Here's a video of Hillary doing the WOD, complete with rowing into the fridge.  At the time the fridge rowing made Sarah very happy.  It made Rob want to move the fridge.
