Motivation Monday: Participate in The Open?

by Arena Ready on January 24th, 2016

It's okay to be nervous, but go for it anyway.
From Nevada:
I just want to encourage any CF newbies who aren't sure about signing up for the Open to give it a try! I signed up for my first Open last year after doing CF for about 5 months (I did all of the workouts scaled) and it was a great experience because of the amazing energy at the gym, the support of the community, and the chance to push myself and test my fitness. So don't worry if you can't do double unders or kipping pull ups, just do it! It's fun!

From Jess:
Mayra: Are you signing up for the open?
Me: Obviously...oh, so are you.

From Molly F:
Shortly after I started CF in 2009 I ended up at the CF games on our gym team (you just signed up to compete as a team then). I nearly caused us to DNF the first event because I kept missing the 10ft wall ball target - I could not hit it and I had to do 30 reps. I watched in awe as women overhead squatted 165 x 3 (I barely hit 95#'s and my last rep depth was questionable), etc etc. I've been competing ever since. Every year I improve something somehow and I'm so inspired by what I see other people accomplishing. It's a wonderful event.

From Laura L:
The Open forced me to learn double-unders for the first time, and I also got my first chest-to-bar pull-up and my first 95# OHS because of the open.
